An Unintended Leave of Absence

So, I haven’t written much and have pretty much been MIA since early August and there are several reasons for this. The first is that the second half of August I was in America. I was having far too much fun, sightseeing, soaking up sun, and catching Pokémon to make time for writing.  Though I do intend to write about my American adventures soon.

The second reason is that I came back from America and struggled to readjust. I arrived back in the UK sick and miserable and spent at least a week what where my bedroom, only leaving to go to the bathroom and to get food. I was in a place where I didn’t want to do anything and didn’t want speak to anyone. I couldn’t focus to write and every time I did try to write it just felt forced and unnatural and left me feeling even less motivated. To be honest it kind of sucked.

After I came back from America I was also trying to sort out a Masters course and find a job. Both of these things are stressful. This combination of stress, anxiety, and complete lack of motivation was a total emotional nightmare. Being back in Newcastle has helped a bit. It’s far harder to sit and wallow when you have classes to go to and friends around to drag you out of your room. Having a slightly more structured timetable has helped to get me going a little bit. Completing small tasks gives me motivation to complete more tasks, and the more I do the more I want to get stuff done. It’s kind of a snowball effect.

At the moment I can’t promise how regularly I’ll be able to update as I’m about to start what looks like it could be very content heavy masters course. However, I do hope I’ll be able to update at least once a month.
